WISH 107.5 successfully celebrated its 6th anniversary on August 23 through a live concert on its YouTube channel. The digital concert aims to provide 107 deserving students with tablets that they can use for their blended learning needs.

“Notes of Hope: A 6th Wish Anniversary Digital Concert” is the very first concert organized by WISH 107.5 on the digital stage. Hosted by DJ Alice and DJ Adam, the 2.5-hour event was enjoyed by more than 34,000 wishers who streamed and supported the concert-for-a-cause.

Various OPM artists, including Moira Dela Torre, Jason Marvin, Darren Espanto, SB19, Sam Mangubat, The Juans, Bugoy Drilon, Daryl Ong, Mark Carpio, Munimuni, and The Wishfuls participated in the said event.

The Journey of Breaking Boundaries

It has been six years since Wish 107.5 FM station braved a different kind of radio broadcast that covers both traditional and web-based platforms to promote music and charity.

Now, with the pandemic affecting several sectors across the country, including the music and live events community, Wish was still able to resume its journey of breaking boundaries when it celebrated its sixth anniversary through the digital benefit concert, “Notes of Hope.” A stellar set of performances from guest artists aboard the Wish 107.5 Bus and in a studio in Caloocan City was made possible by following stringent safety protocols.

To continue the spirit of charity, the “Notes of Hope” concert aimed to help underprivileged but deserving students continue their studies through online learning.

Ito po ngayon ay talagang napaka in-demand at kailangang-kailangan ng atin pong mga magaaral. Subalit alam natin po na maraming hirap sa buhay kaya wala po silang capacity na makabili ng sarili nilang tablets or laptops na maaring magamit nila para sa kanilang pagaaral (Tablets and laptops are very much in demand today as there are what our students need in their online studies. However, we know that many do not have the capacity to buy their own tablets or laptops)”, said Kuya Daniel Razon, BMPI CEO and President, in a message aired during the concert.

Together with different sponsors, the FM station initially pledged 100 tablets. However, due to the overwhelming support of Wishers, Wish 107.5’s management has decided to increase the number of learning devices to 107.

A Platform for Music and Hope

While the “Notes of Hope” digital benefit concert was aimed at helping students, it was also meant to support our local artists in the music live events industry.

In his video message, Kuya Daniel promised that Wish 107.5 will continue to serve as a music and hope platform. “Our friends from the live events industry are some of those who have been heavily hit. Which is why we strive to remain to be a platform where artists can continue to share their music and impart messages of positivity amid these difficult times.”

Artists who performed during the event also expressed their thoughts on using music to help the people in need.

“As a performer, I realized how impactful it is to serve as an inspiration to my listeners. That’s why I hope that through the platform that I have, I would be able to pass on this inspiration to others who need it. In our own little ways, let us all be an inspiration to everyone,” said Sam Mangubat, during an interview.

Similarly, OPM rock quintet The Juans shared the same sentiments in an interview before the event.

“What’s unique this year is the fact that we’re not allowed to do mass gatherings. But despite that, because Wish is innovative and creative, we have found a new means to not just celebrate, but to also use the opportunity to be a blessing to people who are in need. Not only did we refuse to succumb to the circumstances around us, but we’re able to turn this adversity to an opportunity to bless others — and we think, that’s truly inspiring,” the group expressed.

Even if live shows are now on pause, Wish 107.5 proves to its supporters that music still can be a channel for sharing hope and compassion to others.

As Wish 107.5 marches forward after its 6th Anniversary, Kuya Daniel said fans and listeners can expect and witness more as the FM station is committed to spreading joy and inspiration to everyone.

“We may be living in challenging and disheartening times, but we at Wish will continue to spread joy and inspiration with God’s help through music and shine our light of hope and charity to the world,” Kuya Daniel vowed.
