UNTV Action Center’s “People’s Day” Outreach Visits Pasay City Barangays

“Thank you for the medical mission rendered in our barangay,” Annalyn Alcantara, a resident of Malibay Pasay City, expressed her gratitude for UNTV Action Center.

Annalyn is one of the thousands from five barangays in Pasay City who queued at Timoteo Paez Elementary School for the second People’s Day of UNTV last April 25.

“People’s Day”, a brainchild of seasoned broadcaster Daniel Razon, is UNTV Action Center’s outreach program geared to provide public charities to various barangays in the Philippines. Its barangay visit is held monthly.

Free services such as medical consultations, massage, and haircut were given to the residents of Barangay 152, Barangay 153, Barangay 156, Barangay 157, and Barangay 158.

UNTV radio program, Huntahang Legal, offered free legal assistance.

Doctors for Free

Patients who had not sought medical treatment before because of high medical cost were the biggest beneficiaries of the People’s Day.

“Due to this medical mission, many were able to avail of free medication, especially those who cannot afford going to doctors because of the high fee. They don’t have the capacity to pay,” remarked Barangay 157 captain Joan Flores.

Liza Avila who lined up for medical help said the free service was a big saving, saying: “Of course, we save up (in these medical missions). Medical exams in other centers are very expensive.”

It was also from the UNTV Action Center that Arcenia Cortez, 82, received help for her frequent stomach pain and eye vision problem. She got free checkup and received free medicines.

“The medical mission is a big help. It will help a lot of people. Many indigents are able to get free medical treatment,” Lola Arcenia spoke her joy.

UNTV also conducted first aid and safety seminar.

To the Rescue…

While in the midst of serving people in the venue, UNTV News and Rescue Team quickly responded to a lady patient who was reported suffering from severe scalds after she accidentally spilled her both legs with boiling water.

The rescue team immediately provided the same patient with first-aid treatment and free medicine for her burns.

UNTV Action Center 3rd People’s Day will be at Barangay Balumbato in Quezon City.
