Pasig City – The Senate Defenders seeks to open their second round action with a bang as they face the AFP Cavaliers in the first game of UNTV Cup 2 games on April 27 (Sunday) at the Ynares Sports Arena.

The Defenders will again rely on their star forward, ex-pro Kenneth Duremdes, to keep up with AFP’s high-octane offense.

The AFP Five, however, will be putting their superior perimeter game and lockdown defense anchored on guards Alvin Zuniga, Eugene Tan, Winston Sergio, and Roger Araneta.

The first game is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m.

PNP Responders vs. LGU Vanguards

Meanwhile, the PNP Responders aims to notch another win as they face the LGU Vanguards in the second game scheduled at 3:30 p.m.

The Responders opened the second round with a 75-61 demolition of the MMDA Black Wolves last April 13, with PNP’s backcourt tandem of Ollan Omiping and Julius Criste combining for 33 points. Criste also provided the firepower in PNP’s fourth-quarter surge, making 8 points in a crucial run to break a 55-all deadlock.

They will be facing an LGU squad that suffered a heartbreaking 93-91 loss in the hands of the Malacañang Patriots, also last April 13. Despite the loss, the Vanguard’s 1-2 punch of Ervic Vijandre and Kiko Adriano still proved to be a formidable duo as they combined for a 67-point performance.

Malacañang Patriots vs. Judiciary Magis

In the main game, the Malacañang Patriots seeks an upset victory against the defending champions Judiciary Magis.

The Patriots’ trademark rugged game will be put to test as they face the Judiciary’s triumvirate of Don Camaso, Ariel Capus, and John Hall.

The Judiciary’s big three combined for 74 points in their last game of the first round last March 9 against the DOJ Avengers.

Meanwhile, Malacañang’s big men Greg Malapit, Jenkins Mesina, Paul Yamamoto, and Vladimir Lucido combined for 73 points to power the Patriots in their last game against the LGU Vanguards last April 13.

The main game is scheduled at 5:00 p.m. The games will again feature the UNTV Action Center, where people watching the games would also be able to inquire and ask assistance from participating government agencies regarding their concerns and needs.

The UNTV Cup games will be televised live on UNTV with webcast on the networks’s official site UNTVWeb.com.
