Kuya Daniel Razon Becomes Newest PMA Maringal Class of 1988 Member

Quezon City, Philippines – “In the case of Kuya Daniel, it was very easy because his reputation is well known. So it was very easy for us to come up with a decision. His values would be compatible with the Maringal Class of 1988.”

This was how Police Maringal Association chairman Police Director Leo Angelo Leuterio defended the decision to adopt the veteran broadcast journalist as a fraternal member of the Philippine Military Academy Maringal Class of 1988, PNP chapter.

In explaining why Razon, who is more popularly known as Kuya Daniel, is very much qualified to become a member of their class, the police director said Kuya Daniel’ character exemplifies a true “mistah”.

The PMA Maringal Class 1988 held an induction ceremony for new fraternal members on August 15, 2017 at the Macario Sakay Hall, Quezon City Sports Club.

Kuya Daniel’s outstanding public service and broadcast industry reputation assure his fellows at PMA that he will be a valuable asset of their class. Kuya Daniel’s character demonstrates a true ‘Mistah’ (generally refers to a classmate or batch mate), according to Eleuterio.

Ardent Support to PMA

The BMPI CEO and President assured his comrades at PMA that he will ardently support the prestigious military institution in its endeavor to serve Filipinos.

“In any way that I can help, I promise that with the help of the Lord, I will not let you down. I will live up to be a Maringal: noble and productive,” Kuya Daniel remarked.

The veteran broadcast journalist, who is himself a recipient of the PUP Honoris Causa, vowed to extend his public service advocacy to his new comrades in the PMA.

Kuya Daniel assured the PMA Maringal Class of 1988 that he will be of service “not only of our group but also for the service of the people we serve.”

“So treat our station [UNTV], your station. You treat our entity, your entity. And you treat me as your servant,” expressed the UNTV CEO. “I will be, with God’s help, your servant and the people’s servant.”

Kuya Daniel also revealed during his speech that he would have joined the military had he not become a broadcaster.

“Had it not been for the path that I actually followed in my life I could have been one of the military personnel because this is also one of those things that I really want to pursue in my life,” he said.

Through UNTV where he is CEO, Kuya Daniel introduced not only holistic public service initiatives for the indigents. His numerous innovative projects have long been helping fill the gap in the lack of welfare to some of the country’s less fortunate individuals.

Projects such as Serbisyong Kasangbahay medical outreaches have been inspiring multi-sectoral groups and award-giving groups, leading others to commend him and his charitable works.

Among the public service undertakings that Kuya Daniel introduced include giving of free medical-dental-legal assistance, tuition-free private education to deserving yet poor students, and UNTV Cup benefit basketball league to help the chosen charities of the participating teams.

He also introduced the first news-and-rescue advocacy in Philippine television called, “Tulong Muna, Bago Balita (Rescue First, Report Later). This cause aims to encourage media practitioners to put saving lives as a priority over breaking news reports.

His PMA fellows believe that more public service activities will be launched in the coming days, now that Kuya Daniel is a fraternal member.
