Kuya Daniel Razon to Spearhead Opening of Benefit Basketball League UNTV Cup Season 6 on Sept. 12

Another chapter unfolds for UNTV Cup as new exciting season of the basketball league of public servants kickstarts this Tuesday, (Sept 12), spearheaded by BMPI President and CEO, Kuya Daniel Razon.

Fourteen teams will participate in the upcoming season while cash prizes amounting to 8.5 million pesos will be given to the winning and participating teams at the end of the basketball tournament.

The four new teams are the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Drug Busters, Commission on Audit (COA) Enablers, Department of Agriculture (DA) Food Master, and Department of Health (DOH) Health Achievers.

The opening ceremony will commence at 6 p.m. at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

Guest performers include Jason Dy, Mela, Sassa Dagdag, and Angel Misstres.

Participating Teams and their Chosen Charities

Except for the Judiciary Magis and the Department of Agriculture Food Master who are yet to announce their beneficiaries, the rest of the teams who have already named their beneficiaries are as follows:

  • PDEA Drug Busters – Confederation of Community Oriented Policing System NGOs Inc. (CCOPS-NGOs Inc)
  • COA Enablers – Caritas Novaliches
  • DOH Health Achievers – Dr. Gerry Cunanan Mindanao Heart Foundation, Kapwa Ko Mahal Ko
  • PNP Responders – Association of Chiefs of Police of the Phils. (ACPPI) Inc.
  • AFP Cavaliers – AFP Educational Benefit System Office
  • BFP Firefighters – Philippine Science High School Foundation Inc.
  • Malacañang – PSC (Philippine Sports Commission) Kamao – Philippine Children’s Medical Center and Millennium Sports Support System Association Inc.
  • Ombudsman Graft Busters – Ombudsman Provident Fund
  • Senate Defenders – Kythe Foundation Inc. and Tahanang Mapagpala Immaculada Concepcion Inc.
  • DOJ Justice Boosters – Department of Justice Employees’ Association (DOJEA), Silong Tanglaw, Uswag Kabataan Inc. and Nazareth Home for Children Foundation Inc.
  • GSIS Furies – Kapisanan ng mga Manggagawa sa GSIS (KMG)
  • NHA Builders – NHA Provident Fund Association, Inc.
  • Judiciary Magis – TBA
  • Department of Agriculture Food Master – TBA

Season 6 titleholder will receive P4 million, second placer will get P2 million, while third and fourth placers will receive P1 million and P500,000, respectively.

All the rest of the participating teams who will not make it to the finals will each receive P100,000.

Innovative Charitable Concept

Known for his innovative broadcasting and charitable innovations, the 2017 KBP Lifetime Achievement Awardee Kuya Daniel launched UNTV Cup as a basketball tournament that aims to gather government officials in the hardcourt to play for their chosen charitable institutions.

To qualify to play for their agency’s team, officials and ranking personnel government must be at least 30 years of age.

Each team can import reinforcement players, provided the same previously played in professional basketball associations and have retired for at least five years already.

Regular Games

 

Regular games will be held every Sunday at 2 p.m. The games will be simulcast via the UNTVCup.com website.
