Good Morning Kuya’s New Set Shows Modern House, Old Family Values

With healthy discussions over a meal and a ready welcome mat for guests, the new set of Good Morning Kuya shows more than a modern house, but old family values as well.

The kid-friendly morning program of UNTV surprised its viewers with a studio-turned-house on January 19, 2015. It’s Kuya Daniel Razon’s latest morning show innovation atop other media firsts like Tulong Muna Bago Balita (Rescue First Report Later) and Clinic ni Kuya.

Hosts and guests enter a door into the set who are warmly greeted by the housekeeper, more affectionately called as kasangbahay or housemate, and by everyone inside. Hosts would sometimes bring food for sharing like fruits from the market, while giving an update on the current prices of basic commodities.

At the kitchen, the chef for the day creates a nutritious meal for What’s for Breakfast? who soon joins the cast at the breakfast table. They all then sit down and dig in the dish and delve in a variety of educational topics from great food deals to the right age a child should learn a second language.

More pressing and serious matters in the Philippines and abroad however are discussed at the living room. Among those already discussed are issues ranging from the drop of fuel surcharge of Asia’s airlines to the effects of America’s extraction of fuel from shale to its booming economy.

Educational discussions continue from the dining room to the living room, and to add music to the mood, a piano player is ready anytime to strike a merry chord. (Photo courtesy of Photoville International)

For a quick change of mood, a grand piano complete with a piano player is on standby.
Singer-songwriter Kuya Daniel and the rest of the GMK crew entertain the crowd by bursting into song at any part of the program.

Come Flashback Fridays and guest performers croon the hits of a chosen locale or foreign artist of the week.

Above all these is the slew of public services that GMK is more known for, especially by the hundreds of indigents that line up as early as 4 a.m. every weekday for free checkups and medicines.

GMK also provides live medical and legal consultations on air with the aid of UNTV’s Mobile Radio Booth. The custom-built booth goes into the heart of the barangay, bringing the Public Service Network’s services closer to home.
