Good Morning Kuya and UNTV Named Best Media Honors of SSS Balikat ng Bayan Awards

Daniel Razon’s morning show, Good Morning Kuya! (GMK), proved one more time that public service is an indispensable part of excellent journalism.

For another year of making Social Security System (SSS) and its members just a call away to solving inquiries and concerns, the agency gave GMK the Excellence in Journalism for Television during the 2014 Balikat ng Bayan Awards.

“In behalf of Kuya Daniel and everyone in GMK, we thank SSS,” said Rep. Erin Tañada, UNTV News Manager and one of the show’s hosts, who received the award. He also spoke about the continued partnership of UNTV and SSS to bring the institution’s social security programs closer to the Filipino household.

UNTV was also named Best Media Partner for Television on the awards night held recently at the SSS Main Building in Quezon City.

This is the third time that the station has received an excellent media award from the SSS. UNTV first received the same on 2011.

“I congratulate UNTV, our media partner. Media is a huge help for us because they’re the ones relaying messages to our members,” said SSS president and CEO Emilio de Quiros, Jr.

SSS public service through Good Morning Kuya!

Like other government agencies such as the Department of Justice and Philippine National Police, UNTV has allotted an airtime for SSS to answer queries of its applicants and members. On the segment Ikonsulta Mo on Good Morning Kuya!, the agency attends to the members’ problems concerning pensions, loan applications, and other benefits.

Through UNTV, SSS can easily reach its constituents through the program. The show allows the agency to announce or promote projects for their members.
