On its 6th year anniversary, UNTV celebrated with a bang of public services and entertainment for everyone. Six years and counting, it pioneered various social services for the poor and marginalized that made it the Pillar of Public Service in Philippine Television.

Patients lined-up to avail free medical services. Several medical staffs assisted the patients in their registration and initial check-up. UNTV's medical services included optometry, pediatrics, minor surgery, general medicine, and dental, among others.

Anyone needing eye treatment was referred to an ophthalmologist. Here, the eye doctors made thorough check-ups to determine the patients' eye problems and recommend the best possible solutions.

Aside from giving medical services, UNTV also granted the small wishes of some poor Filipinos. Munting Pangarap, a weekly show on UNTV hosted by Kuya Daniel Razon, provides micro-finance (livelihood support) for the destitute.

UNTV hosts interviewed a woman who wished to start her own rolling store. And she received a complete package: a bicycle with a sidecar, a gas stove, and enough amount of cash among others, to set her business rolling.

On its 6th year, UNTV officially launched its new, news tagline Tulong Muna Bago Balita (Assist First Before Reporting). Jerry Carual (left), Search and Rescue Unit Foundation (SARUF) President, explained how SARUF and UNTV share a common advocacy in saving lives. Carual led his team in training UNTV correspondents for emergency responses.

The first batch of graduates, these UNTV reporters, drivers, and cameramen underwent a month-long emergency response training (ERT). UNTV is the first media entity to go through such extensive rescue operations training. “UNTV News Team” was thus renamed “UNTV News and Rescue Team.”

Kuya Daniel congratulated the newly-certified rescuers and formally introduced them to the public. Equipped with the proper skills, they are now ready to conduct first aid application and rescue operations before reporting news.
