“We hope that this is the start of a unified rescue group.”

Aimed at strengthening and expanding the rescue assistance to those in need, Kuya Daniel Razon launched through UNTV Rescue the Emergency Race. Kuya Daniel is the Chairman and CEO of UNTV-BMPI.

The race was rolled out at the convention of rescue organizations in the National Capital Region (NCR) last December 15, 2015. For a start, the competition will be held among volunteer and government rescue groups from the NCR.

From NCR, the bigger plan is to tap rescue groups in all parts of the country. All groups will compete and showcase their best strategies and skills in rescuing.

As one spearheading the race, UNTV Rescue will provide a five-hectare lot that participants can use as a training ground.

Participating groups see this effort of UNTV and Kuya Daniel as one thing beneficial to their personnel.

“It is actually good for us. We really need those, an area that will serve as a training ground for free is an advantage to us because of the less expenditure,” said National Commission (NATCOM) Director Henry Yang who was thankful of the launch of the initiative.

Another good thing is that their personnel’s training will be beefed up further, according to Yang.

When helping others, no such thing as “monopoly”

During the convention and launching event, Kuya Daniel’s message was clear: “Walang sinoman ang may monopoloyo sa pagtulong sa kapwa (No one has the monopoly in helping those who are in need).”

He urged every rescuer to have a mindset that whatever we can do to our fellowmen, we should render to them in times of need.

And to the rescue groups, “We should be working hand in hand in order to widen the scope of our capabilities as well as increase the number of people we can provide assistance to,” the seasoned broadcaster added.
