ASOP Music Festival Stages Grand Finals on September 23

After a series of weekly and monthly search for new crops of songs of praise, twelve composers and interpreters will vie for the top prizes of the A Song of Praise (ASOP) Music Festival on September 23, 2014 at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

This year’s winner will join Purihin mo ang Dios Oh Pilipinas! (Praise God Oh Philippines!) and Ikaw (You), the first and second year’s “Song of the Year” winners, respectively.

Some of the country’s most prominent and new talents in the local music scene, as in the previous years, are expected to participate this year’s music festival grand finals night.

Action star Cesar Montano and 80’s Original Pilipino Music (OPM) singing sweetheart Lilet Jodloman, whose original compositions made it to the finals, will be on stage along with other 10 finalists.

Acclaimed singers Rachel Alejandro, Bayang Barrios, and Mcoy Fundales are some of the interpreters who will take part this year. Jayson Fernandez and Jek Manuel, both in their second time to interpret a song in the finals, will be singing in duet on Tuesday evening.

While the list of judges is set to be named, however, ASOP TV’s resident judge Doc Mon del Rosario is expected to take one of the seats of the panel of judges.

The Country’s First Songs of Praise Music Festival

Kuya Daniel Razon, who is the Chairman and CEO of the station’s content provider, brought ASOP TV Music Festival on UNTV, which began airing in 2012. ASOP Music Festival became the only and first praise songwriting competition in the Philippines.

Originally conceptualized by Bro. Eli Soriano, ASOP started as an internal competition inside the Members Church of God International (MCGI) since 2004. Bro. Eli is the Presiding Minister of MCGI.

As in the ASOP Music Festival of MCGI, ASOP TV remains committed to its true goal of encouraging composers, both amateur and professional, to create songs of praises all for God’s glory.

Meanwhile, text voting for the People’s Choice’s song entry is still going on. Voting period will end on Tuesday on the Grand Finals day.
